How to write social humanities paper

There are five steps to writing a good social humanities paper.

1, Choose the subject . What am I writing about ?

It's exciting to discover what interests you most in social science and humanities. Because it's not homework from a teacher at school. You find your own subject. It could be a historical figure you admire the most, or an important historical event you care about the most, or an area you want to talk about the most.

If you want to collect topics, the following sites are very helpful.

Library of Congress website: www.loc.gov

New York Central Library website: www.nypl.org

The Smith Institute website: www.si.edu

Encyclopedia  of art: www.artcyclopedia.com

2,Gather material, analyze material, study material.

Through the library and the Internet, you spend a lot of time gathering materials. Once you have decided on a topic for your paper, then you have to read the source materials carefully, analyze them, and study them.

Say you decide to write about the cooperation and disagreement between the second president of the United States, John Adams and the third president, Thomas Jefferson. you need to read the lives and philosophies of both presidents. You have to read the 158 letters two presidents left for us to appreciate what a legacy these two presidents left behind.

Another way to gather material is to visit the homes of famous historical figures or to study the places where important historical events took place. If you want to delve into the views of the two American presidents, you should visit to John Adams' old house and his study in Quincy, Boston and Jefferson Manor in Virginia, experience the living environment of these two great men. If you want to write a paper on Mark Twain, visit Mark Twain's home in Connecticut. To write about the American Civil War, you should visit the site of the famous Battle of Gettysburg.

When you learn something, or visit a place, you need to organize it immediately. Make flashcards, jot down key facts, and file them for reference when writing.

3,Identify specific topic

On the basis of collecting information and analyzing research, you need to determine the theme of the paper, which should be reflected in the topic, and reflect your writing intention comprehensively .

Topics should be small rather than large, rather small and focused, not too much content.

4,   Writing Layout (Sandwich format)

A Introduction, thesis statement

Introduction, also known as the preface, belongs to the introduction part of the whole paper, Including the main introduction of the research project, the reason for writing the paper, purpose, background, etc.

The size of the introduction depends on the size of the whole paper length and content of the paper, long up to 700~800 words or 1000 words, or short just less 100 words.

B Body, presenting evidence

The main body of a paper occupies the largest length. Paper should reflect creative achievements or new research results. This section is substantial, well-supported and reliable. A good paper must be well argued and have a clear theme.

C Conclusion

Summary word should not be much, clear can be. Some papers in the summary, introducing some of the latest research progress in this field or other experts' research materials for readers' reference, is also a good end.

5, Citing sources

References refer to the works, newspapers and magazines referred to by the author in the process of writing the paper, which should be listed at the end of the paper.
